You have been thinking about it for too long and now is the time to take action. You have to book that surprise romantic ski holiday. Where will you go and what will you do to make it the ultimate romantic ski holiday experience?

We have put together some suggestions of things you can do in Morzine/Avoriaz (part of the Portes du Soleil ski region which covers 650km of pistes) to help you on your way. Above all, you will have to book the holiday!

1) Why not spend the night in a mountain igloo?

Avoriaz, sitting at 1,800 metres offers you just this. You start your evening with a walk under the stars and will be in the safe hands of a mountain guide to ensure you stay on the right track! Then it is time for you to have a frosty aperitif before sharing a traditional Savoyard cheese fondue. Then you will spend the night in the igloo on an ice bed covered in animal skins to keep you from the cold. Special duvets are provided for you which are designed for polar expeditions so you will definitely be warm enough!  In the morning you wake up to a private breakfast on the igloo terrace.

2) Enjoy a romantic winter walk down the river Dranse

This beautiful river flows alongside the road through the centre of Morizne for 30km. The river ultimately feeds into Lac Leman (Lake Geneva). You will experience lovely tree lined walks beside the river and the waterfall at Nyon is a great romantic spot to head to.

3) Horse drawn carriage

So, wrap up warm and enjoy the magical romance of a tour around Morzine. Or perhaps the beautiful Lac du Montriond in a horse drawn carriage. Soak up the picturesque landscape, get away from it all and why not take along that bottle of champagne!

4) A long lunch on the mountain

Firstly, you wake up to blue skies and sunshine. Today is the day for that romantic lunch on the mountain. Secondly, the choice of fabulous restaurants in the Portes du Soleil is first class. Thirdly, the gems can be booked well in advance by the hotel you are staying with who will have all the local knowledge. Finally, pick your spot and you are set for the day.

5) Seek out those amazing viewpoints

Morzine has some breathtaking views. A highlight has to be the iconic Mont Blanc which is the highest mountain in the Alps and stands at 4,808 metres. So, with a stunning backdrop and your amazing company, I believe your loved one will not be anything other than impressed!

If you fancy a road trip, Chamonix-Mont Blanc is just over an hour away from Morzine. One of the world’s highest cable cars takes you to the top of the Aiguille du Midi where you can enjoy spectacular views at an altitude of 3,840m.

6) Don’t go out

First and foremost, what can be more romantic than chilling at the beautiful hotel you have chosen. As it happens, the fire is roaring and the tunes are playing gently in the background. The snow is falling outside and you have your favourite glass of wine in hand. Last and by no means least, you are with the love of your life!
