Our Story

Our story involves a very lucky crossing of paths: we couldn’t have grown up further from each other – literally, the most opposite points of the World (Dublin and Wellington).

We then swapped sides of the world in 2016/2017 when Orla moved to Australia and Jared moved to London. But fate (aka Hinge) brought us together in Melbourne in 2020, right on time.

Nothing has been ‘normal’ so far. We have managed to squeeze a lot into a very short amount of time, thanks to the pandemic. Morzine is where we spent our first proper holiday together so we can’t wait to have you there with us, to celebrate it all.

When & Where

The Farmhouse – a fairy tale location in the heart of Morzine, in the French Alps.

We are celebrating from Wednesday 18th December – Friday 20th December, but feel free to stay as long as you wish, either side of this. We will be staying for Christmas.

Timeline

Wednesday 18th December – Welcome drinks and light supper for anyone who has arrived

Thursday 19th December – a day to relax and enjoy Morzine or hit the slopes with us

Friday 20th December – Wedding Ceremony – times TBC

Will you attend

How To Get There

The Farmhouse is a 75 minute drive from Geneva, and it is a straightforward journey from Geneva Airport or central railway station by one of the following options:

  • Geneva in Switzerland is the closest international airport. It’s a 1 hour 15 minutes drive away from Morzine.

The easiest way to get from Geneva Airport is by booking a return transfer, this will drop you directly to your chosen accommodation in Morzine. Confirm your flights and we will arrange your transfer.

  • You don’t need a car in Morzine as the village is small and everything is accessible by foot. You only need to hire a car in Geneva if you plan to drive elsewhere after the wedding. Please note that in December you will require snow chains to get to Morzine.

Otherwise, a transfer from Geneva airport is the easiest way to get to Morzine from the airport – we can help organise this.

FAQ

  • For the wedding day, it will be an adult only event, we can assist with babysitters. Children are welcome to come to the welcome drinks and all other activities the days before the wedding.

  • We hope to have the ceremony outside – weather dependant! So bring something warm to wear for this. We will have a contingency plan incase of rain

The remainder of the day will take place inside

  • Wedding day – black tie

Welcome drinks and supper – casual and warm!!

  • No. We are conscious that everyone has travelled a very long way to be here, and we are very grateful for this. Your presence is the best present we could ask for.

Where to stay?

The Farmhouse is the perfect place to stay and it is fully reserved for our wedding. We will be staying here but unfortunately; it is not big enough to host everyone. There are plenty of alternative hotels/ self-catered chalets very close to the Farmhouse.

We can also offer accommodation, which we will cover, for the three nights 18th – 20th December, at L’Aiglon de Morzine, self-catered apartments in the heart of the town and within walking distance to the Farmhouse.

Availability may be limited depending on demand so please let us know with your RSVP if you are interested in staying here.  Accommodation will be provided for wedding guests in an ensuite bedroom based on two sharing.

As the Aiglon is managed by Orla’s Mam we can arrange a discount for anyone wishing to stay on for Christmas
